Have you ever felt that you were too insignificant to make a real difference in the world? We find insight into this question from the biblical parable of the mustard seed. This story illustrates that even the smallest of herbs grows large and fruitful. Christianity also began small but has grown into a worldwide community of believers. No matter how unimportant we feel, if we trust in God our faith will gradually grow strong and be used in truly unexpected ways.
Did you know that God has dynamic power available for the ordinary Christian? For instance, when a believer prays things happen. “The earnest prayer of a righteous man has great power and wonderful results.” James 5:16 TLB A life of loving God produces amazing results. “For the Lord says, ‘because he loves me I will rescue him. I will make him great because he trusts in my name.’” Psalm 91:14 TLB Through God’s kindness we receive everything we could ever need to share in His greatness. “For as you know him better, he will give you, through his great power, everything you need for living a truly good life: he even shares his own glory and his own goodness with us.” 2 Peter 1:3 TLB
As unbelievable as it may seem, God uses everyday stumble bum Charlie Browns to do remarkable things. We are the people of God. Because of His unlimited resources we can excel in the small as well as the big responsibilities of life. When we are devoted to following the example of Jesus He gives us an admirable first-rate life exemplified in loving and caring for others. The truth is, “Your care for others is the measure of your greatness.” Luke 9:48 TLB
Whenever we feel alone or overwhelmed let us remember that God can take just a mustard seed of faith in a believer’s heart and multiply it into a kingdom of faithful followers. “I pray that you will begin to understand how incredibly great his power is to help those who believe him.” Ephesians 1:19 TLB May we never underestimate the power of our great God. Wherever we are in our faith walk God can enable us to grow and flourish, transforming our ordinary efforts into His extraordinary Christ life.

Faith is expressed in many simple ways. Did you know you can become rich in faith by simply giving away your worry? Anything that ranges from a slight concern to an overwhelming burden can be taken by prayer to the cross and forever left there. It is the Lord Jesus who gives trust and gentle rest to those who leave their cares with the One who will do something about them? This frees us to enjoy life and be that delightfully happy and positive person we have always dreamt of being. “Don’t worry about anything instead pray about everything; tell God your needs and don’t forget to thank him for his answers. If you do this you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus.” Phil 4:6, 7
Remember that in life humans can play only a small part in fixing problems. We never understand adequately either the beginning or the end of a matter. Our perception is always limited. How little we really see! Wouldn’t you want the one who comprehends the complete picture to act upon it? May we allow God to take his rightful place as God of all. The scripture tells us to pray without ceasing. Can we more readily discern why prayer is so essential in a Christian’s daily life? It is always there, this fantastic provision. “…Don’t worry about having enough food and clothing. But your heavenly Father already knows perfectly well that you need them…” Matt 6:31, 32 Go ahead, pray about your needs.
Pray for God to give you every good and excellent thing necessary for life and while you’re at it pray about your future. “So don’t be anxious about tomorrow. God will take care of your tomorrow too.” Matt 6:34 We also have deep concerns for others, the valuable and precious people of the world. As you live your life God is working behind the scenes orchestrating and answering your prayers. “And if we really know he is listening when we talk to him and make our requests, then we can be sure that he will answer us.” 1 John 5:15 Our worries are transformed into a wonderful world of wholehearted trust when we let God be the Perfect Provider.

Is Jesus your conquering warrior, your hero, and your champion? He has overcome every enemy that would seek to harm us, making Christ the absolute victor over darkness. “And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.” Col 2:15 Now more than ever we need increasing strength and a firm resolve to stand against the evil forces that threaten our personal lives, our country, and our world. Christ has the power to subdue the principalities and forces who try to destroy us. A godly defense begins with just one surrendered believer. We must willingly place our lives under his mighty protection, instruction, and care. “Yet the Lord still waits for you to come to him, so he can show you his love, he will conquer you to bless you.” Is 30:18
Do we know Jesus as the Overcoming One? His power is standing by to invade our lives. He is waiting for us to raise his flag of ownership, showing that we are putting every area, one at a time under his control. Never, never give up, even if it has been years since you have gotten victory in a particular area! Romans 8:37 gives us a compelling reason to return once again to God. “…overwhelming victory is ours through Christ who loved us enough to die for us.” That victory must not be wasted in our lives. Ask God to conquer you in order to bless you. “…for all God gives to his son Jesus is now ours too.” Rom 8:17 His desire is clear. His hearts longing is to draw you to Him. Will you come? “Since he did not spare even his own Son for us but gave him up for us all, won’t he also surely give us everything else?” Rom 8:32 That everything includes victory over sin, the peace of Christ, an abiding inner work of happiness and contentment, and the ability to trust God for your future.
Today do not sell yourselves short, victory is coming! Is it over that next hill? How can we possibly settle for less than what God has purchased for us? We will not cheapen his sacrifice. Ask God for the trust you need for a believing heart, letting him conquer you till you know the feel of victory.

Sometimes it seems that despite all our Bibles, spiritual seminars, prayer times, and church services the body of Jesus Christ is more wounded and hurting than ever. We long to be accepted for who we are. Not what we will someday become but who we are today. We long for value and worth in a world gone awry. Most of all we desire to love and be loved.
Where do we find our value? Where do we look for love? I like how Robert McGee expressed his answer. “Our value is not dependent on our ability to earn the fickle acceptance of people but rather, its true source is in the love and acceptance of God. He created us. He alone knows how to fulfill all of our needs.” In order to receive the benefits of knowing God we must live with unreserved confidence and trust in His love and authority. In other words we must jump in with both feet. Trusting his authority is acknowledging that He has the right to tell us what to do. Because He created me and the world around me, I accept Him as King and Boss of my life. Believing in God and His Son Jesus Christ, all of life is now centered on God’s Word. The Bible gives us complete security. “As for God, His way is perfect, the word of God is tried or flawless.” Ps 18:30 The Word is The Living Power and is 100% reliable and true. “Thou art near, O Lord, and all thy commandments are truth.” Ps 119:15 “All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep His covenant and His testimonies.” Ps 25:10 Matthew says that when everything else has passed away God’s word will still remain. “I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait, in His words do I hope.” Ps 130:5 As we welcome the scriptures into our life we find tremendous joy. How incredible that the Lord Himself comes to talk to us and offer His friendship to us.
There are many things we are unable to understand and many unanswered questions. But in the middle of a world gone wild Jesus Christ is the calm. He alone can still your anxious heart. Jesus is telling you in 2015, “Let not your heart be troubled, neither be afraid.” John 14:27 He says, “I know the plans I have for you, plans for good and not for evil to give you a future and a hope.” Jer 29:11 May you place your todays and tomorrows in His hand. For in Jesus Christ is abundant love and joy for all!
