Sights and Sounds of Summer

Follow the butterfly

We long for the joys of summer time,

The sights and sounds so sublime.

Its warmth and fragrance fills my soul

God speaks to me and makes me whole.

Sunshine, balmy breezes bring sweet gladness.

I’m alive and nature banishes sadness.

Come let us be merry.  Fill your heart with cheer

For this is truly a delightful time of year.

Join me as we walk in God’s wonderful world

Embracing Our Faith: The Holy Spirit My New Best Friend- Part 2

white-dove-photo-top-hd-wallpaper-for-desktop-wide-freeHave you ever wished that you had someone who would stand by you through thick and thin?  There is such a friend and His name is Comforter, Teacher, and Counselor.  As believers why is this friend called the Holy Spirit set apart as indispensable in our lives?  It is because He ushers us into a brand new life.  He teaches us to boldly declare that we now have a “new master, righteousness.”  Rom 6:18   “…and now you can really serve God; not in the old way, mechanically obeying a set of rules, but in the new way, with all of your hearts and minds.”  Rom 7:6   Wherever I am He is with me guiding, directing and protecting me all the way.  No wonder He is our beloved Helper!

It is the Holy Spirit that confirms the truth of God’s Word.  He tells me that I am a genuine believer and that God’s Word so real and powerful will continue to change me.  I now have phenomenal resources available to me since everything that Jesus was given by His Father is now mine.  “For his Holy Spirit speaks to us deep in our hearts, and tells us that we really are God’s children.  And since we are his children, we will share his treasures- for all God gives to his son Jesus is now ours too.”  Rom 8:16, 17   I’m rich!  I’m rich!  I’m rich!  Rich because Jesus is far better than anything the world can offer.  In Romans chapters 8 & 9 I learn that I’m filled with Christ’s goodness, I have overwhelming victory through the cross, and that “all the powers of hell itself cannot keep God’s love away.”  Rom 8:38   On top of all this the Holy Spirit steps in and “…helps us with our daily problems and in our praying… the Holy Spirit prays for us with such feeling that it cannot be expressed in words.”  Rom 8:26   Think of it!  “I… have been made pure and pleasing to him (God) by the Holy Spirit.”  Rom 15:16

What a find!  He is with me every moment, my new best friend.  O how He loves me, proving it by His tender care and enabling.  He has provided just what I need: help, hope, and happiness.  “God who gives you hope will keep you happy and full of peace as you believe in him.  I pray that God will help you overflow with hope in him through the Holy Spirit’s power within you.”  Rom 15:13   Thank you Holy Spirit for giving us the ability to live and cope with daily life.  Never in all the world has there been such a friend like you.

Embracing Our Faith: Part 1- The Cross

Have you ever wished to be part of something so powerful that nothing could overcome it?  Well, in the Christian faith God has provided this incredible strength through the blessed cross.  When Jesus died for us He conquered every evil force that would harass, oppress, and control us.  “In this way God took away Satan’s power to accuse you of sin, and God openly displayed to the whole world Christ’s triumph at the cross.”  Col 2:15 LB  “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness…”  Col 1:13 KJV  “And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.”  Col 2:15  NIV

Depending on the cross means seeing it as “the everlasting blotter” where our wrongs are forever absorbed, swallowed up by the power of the cross.  Our sins are cancelled, erased and eliminated for all time and eternity.  Guilt is gone and profound relief has come.  Will you accept what Jesus did for you at the cross?  It makes all the difference!  “So there is now no condemnation awaiting those who belong to Christ.”  Rom 8:1  LB Jesus“…destroyed sins’s control over us by giving himself as a sacrifice for our sins.”  Rom 8:3  LB

Life is simply too hard, too discouraging without the power of the victorious cross.  Just think of it, because of the cross we don’t have to live any longer feeling defeated by our bad choices, weaknesses and tendencies to do the wrong thing.  Today will you receive that the cross is enough?  The cross is the only remedy that can be applied to the sin wound and completely heal it.  “…though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow.”  Is 1:18  LB

Now there is a joyful new way to live.  Jesus purchased the winning ticket for me by dying on the cross.  He gave me a new identity.  We are declared not guilty for even the worst of offenses.  I am a winner over life’s struggles and a winner even over death.  This makes me very happy!  In exchange for Satan’s rule we have a new and holy power to guide us.  This is the presence of the mighty Holy Spirit.  “So now we can obey God’s laws if we follow after the Holy Spirit and no longer obey the old evil nature within us.”  Rom 8:4  LB  Be looking for Part 2- My New Best Friend: The Holy Spirit.
